Ex-PRF Director Silvinei Vasques Arrested in Paraguay

The incident occurred during the early morning hours on Friday at the main international airport in Assunção. Vasques was in the process of leaving the country when he was approached by Paraguayan authorities.

According to the investigation, Vasques was traveling with documentation that raised immediate suspicions. He was in possession of an original Paraguayan passport, but the identity presented did not correspond to his actual identity.

When he attempted to leave the airport area, he was stopped and subsequently arrested. The detention was carried out by Paraguayan officials who had been alerted to his presence in the country.

The sequence of events leading to the capture was swift. Once the rupture of the electronic monitoring device was detected in Brazil, the machinery of cross-border cooperation was set in motion immediately.

The chain of events began in Santa Catarina, where Silvinei Vasques was under judicial monitoring. He managed to break the electronic ankle bracelet that was tracking his movements.

Following the destruction of the monitoring device, Vasques left Brazilian territory. This departure was conducted without the required judicial authorization, constituting a violation of his legal obligations.

The response from Brazilian law enforcement was coordinated and rapid. The following actions were taken immediately after the breach was detected:

The legal process in Paraguay is moving toward expulsion. Authorities have indicated that Vasques will be expelled from Paraguayan territory.

The expulsion process involves the physical removal of the individual from the country. Following this, he will be delivered to Brazilian authorities. He is expected to face legal consequences in Brazil for breaking the electronic monitor and leaving the country without authorization.

Vasques is a known figure in Brazilian politics and law enforcement. He was previously sentenced to pay a fine equivalent to 24 salaries from the time of his tenure, amounting to more than half a million reais.
